Every great story starts with an idea and every young author starts somewhere!

In this fun hands-on course, students in grades 5 and up will discover how to turn their imaginations into stories they can be proud of. Through short videos, creative activities, colorful worksheets, and interactive challenges, children will learn how to create memorable characters, build exciting plots, writing engaging dialogue, and add vivid details that bring their stories to life.

By the end of the course, each student will have developed and written their very own original story to share with friends and family.

Designed for young writers of all experience levels, this beginner-friendly course encourages creativity and shows that everyone has a story worth telling.

Every Story Starts Somewhere
Where do authors get their ideas? In this first module, you'll discover that inspiration can come from almost anywhere. You'll learn how to collect ideas, ask "what if" questions, and choose a story you'll be excited to write.

Creating Unforgettable Characters
Every great story needs characters readers care about. In this module, you'll create your main character, discover what they want, and give them strengths, flaws, and personality.

Building Your Story World
Stories can happen anywhere, from magical kingdoms to your own neighborhood! Learn how settings make stories come alive.

Plot—What Happens Next?
All stories have a beginning, middle, and end. Learn how to organize your ideas into a story readers won't want to put down.

Bringing Characters to Life with Dialogue
Dialogue (when two or more people talk to each other) lets readers hear your characters speak. Learn how conversations can show personality, create humor, and move your story forward.

Show, Don’t Just Tell
Good writers help readers imagine what's happening. Learn how to paint pictures with your words.

Write, Revise, & Publish Your Story
You've planned your characters, setting, plot, and story details. Now it's time to turn those ideas into a complete story! In this final module, you'll write your first draft, revise and edit your work, and transform your finished story into a book you can share.
